Rachel and Madison are freshman this year, and with them comes a whole heap of drama!
Tom's been seeing his professor since he was a freshman, but when his high school sweetheart Madison Miller-Kim comes to college he falls for her all over again. Of course this doesn't make Prof. Fancey very happy. She's older, and even though she knows Tom isn't the marrying kind of guy, she's hoping to get a ring on her finger.
Tom manages to smooth things over with her...
...but he doesn't stop seeing Madison. He's been in love with her since he was 14, and he can't give her up.
Rachel was always a quiet, serious child, so it's a surprise to everyone when she immediately gets in the middle of some major drama.
Rachel has only been at school for a few weeks when she meets Genesis McCullough. Jackson had a crush on her when he was a freshman, but he stopped seeing Genesis after he met his fiancee Rose. Still, seeing her flirting with his sister upsets him.
He confronts Rachel, but she's the one who gets the last word.
"You don't get to judge me," she tells him.
She tries to patch things up with him later, but they avoid each other for the rest of the semester. And even though Genesis comes over to visit, they both do their best to keep him from seeing them.
Abby and John discuss all of this over lunch one day. "I'm glad we've stayed out of all of this drama," Abby laughs.
She loves John; she's loved him since they were freshman. But of course she's noticed his twin brother, every girl does. She and John joke that you can always find Tom by following the trail of swooning girls. But she and Tom have always just been friends. She's his brother's girlfriend, and she can't imagine crossing that line.
He comes over one evening to talk. He's a good guy, even if right now he's torn between two women. He's sweet and fun and he always makes her laugh.
But the talking turns to teasing, and the teasing turns to flirting, and before she knows it he's down on one knee.
"I wouldn't do this for just any girl," he tells her. "My brother hasn't given you a ring yet... are you sure you wouldn't give me a chance?"
"Did you kiss her?" John demands at breakfast the next morning.
"Hey, take it easy! I didn't do anything!"
"Don't lie to me! She told me you were hitting on her. How could you do that? She's my girlfriend."
"Back off, it was just a joke," Tom tries to laugh.
"Leave her alone. And stay away from me." He starts to leave, then turns back. "You're just jealous she loves me and not you."
Abby was not a cheerleader or homecoming queen. She was a mathlete and president of the chess club. She hadn't been kissed until she met John in college. She's not the kind of girl who boys fight over. But when she comes downstairs she finds Tom and John brawling on the floor of the dining hall.
"I love you, you know that, right?" she says.
"Of course. I love you too. But I can't forgive him Abby. He's a sleazy liar."
"He's your twin brother."
He shakes his head. "I don't care. I'm done with him."
