it's not every day you see Jamie in a dress

August 2031 - James and Anne Smith are 51, Pierce Phillips is 23, Jamie Smith is 22.

James isn't quite ready for his little girl to become a married woman.

"It seems like just yesterday she was toddling through the garden chasing butterflies. She's only 22," he sighs. "She's too young to get married."

"We got married when we were 22," Anne reminds him.

Jamie moved home after college, and she gets dressed for her wedding in her childhood bedroom. She's never been a girly girl, but she loves the way she looks in her wedding gown.

Even in a wedding dress, Jamie is still the same nature-loving hippie. She and her father have been taking care of a stray dog who's been coming by their house lately.

Jamie's always loved the garden, and she couldn't think of a better place to get married. Even the dogs attend the ceremony.

"Congratulations, baby," her mother says as they embrace.

Anne spent three days working on the cake, and it's beautiful. At Jamie's request, it's decorated with flower petals.

It's true they aren't losing a daughter so much as gaining a son. Jamie and Pierce will be living with them, and they want to get started on the baby making right away.

"I've always wanted a lot of kids," Pierce says.

"How many is a lot?" Anne wonders. She had four, and that was as many kids as she could handle.

Jamie shrugs. "Four, six, a dozen?" she laughs.

Good luck, Anne thinks. But it will be nice to have grandkids. John and Abby don't plan to have any for a few more years, Alex is still in college, and Tom never plans anything.

"The house has been pretty quiet for the last few years," James laughs. "I guess you two will put an end to that pretty soon."

"Come on Dad," Jamie teases, "you wouldn't want this house to get boring?"
