a tropical New Year's

January 2032 - Tom Smith is 25, Madison Miller-Kim is 23.

Tom and Madison split Thanksgiving and Christmas with their families, so she suggests they spend New Year's alone at Twikkii Island.

They have a lot to celebrate; Tom has been inducted in the Soccer Hall of Fame, and Madison's dance career is a huge success. She teaches classes in ballroom dance, but she's also pursuing a career as a ballet dancer.

They spend most of the trip relaxing.

Madison learns a hot stone massage...

...as well as hula dancing and fire dancing.

Their hotel has a private beach, and they spend most afternoons lying in the sun and playing in the sand. After a few days Tom gets a pretty good tan.

One afternoon he drags Madison off to explore an old pirate ship. Madison doesn't find it particularly interesting, but Tom spends hours playing on the deck and searching the captain's cabin. He even finds a gold doubloon.

Mostly the trip just gives them the chance to rekindle their romance. They've been living together since Madison graduated from college, and even though they don't plan on getting married, after more than a year together their relationship is pretty settled. They love each other, they always have and they always will,  but sometimes both of them feel a little claustrophobic. They aren't relationship people. But alone on a tropical island together, the rest of the world slips away and all they want is each other.
